"According to the Christian message,
therefore,
man's relationship to his neighbor
is bound up
with his relationship to God...
Christian love of neighbor and justice
cannot be separated.
For love implies an absolute demand for justice,
namely a recognition of the dignity
and rights of one's neighbor.
Justice attains its inner fullness
only in love."

Synod of Bishops, Justice in the World, 1971

Thursday, March 11th  at 7:00pm St. Monicas Documentary and presentation by award winning filmmaker Patrick Mureithi.  ICYIZERE:hope shows the voices and faces of both the survivors and the perpetrators of the 1994 Rwanda genocide as they tell their stories of living as empty shells still mourning their loved ones or trying to overcome their guilt for their actions. They learn that with God’s help, grace, and understanding they can begin to trust their neighbors, find meaning in humanity, and live once again. The film chronicles the power of forgiveness and hope. Can hope be found after devastating tragedy?  In a country where up to one million people were murdered in a hundred days, is it possible to work toward rebuilding relationships in communities where neighbor turned against neighbor, and forgiveness and reconciliation seem impossible when trust is no more?
