Mary R. Saner Child Development Center---Accredited Child Daycare (214) 638-1635

The Mary R. Saner Child Development Center educates and nurtures children in a safe environment, giving parents an opportunity to engage in employment or education.  Enrollment fees are based on a sliding-scale basis.

Children from ages 3 months to 5 years old receive daily care and education by accredited and licensed staff.  The daily activities of Saner include developmental skills, language, math, science and social studies through reading, music, dance, art and dramatic play.  Indoor and outdoor activities help with the physical development of children.  Family style meals at breakfast and lunch promote personal and social skills.

Parents of the children enrolled in the Mary R. Saner Child Development Center must either go to school or work, or be actively looking for a job.  The teachers are responsible for recognizing developmental stages and establishing curriculum that fosters growth in each stage.

The daycare center is a Texas Rising Star Provider, a CCMS provider and accredited by the National Council on Accreditation.  The need for quality child care is seen, as the high cost of daycare rises with more low-income families entering the work force and the median household income among Hispanics is declining. 

Tracing its origin to the first diocesan orphanage, St. Joseph Home, which began in 1891, Catholic Charities has been serving families for over 116 years.  Catholic Charities itself was formally established in March of 1941 by the joining of the Diocesan orphanages – Dunne Memorial Home for Boys, the St. Joseph’s Home for Girls, the Catholic Home Welfare Service, the Marillac Free Clinic and Social Center as well as Mount St. Michael’s.  The heart of these services is still seen through the assistance provided today by Professional Counseling and Children's Services.

Professional Counseling and Children's Services (PCCS) provides help and creates hope for families and individuals through two programs: Maternity and Adoption, and the Mary R. Saner Child Development Center.

Each year, thousands of young girls and women find themselves with unplanned pregnancies. Professional staff members work to help an expectant family determine the best plan for both mother and child – whether it is parenting or choosing to place the child with an adoptive family. Catholic Charities provides:
