Requests for Financial or Material Assistance

Our Family Services program is committed to serving as many individuals possible with their financial or material assistance needs. We strongly encourage anyone seeking financial or material assistance to be aware of our assistance request process by reviewing the information below prior to visiting on of our office locations.

Important reminders before you visit:
  • Due to high demand for our services and certain funding legal limitations, our current process to provide assistance is by appointment only.
  • Appointments are available on a first-come, first-served basis beginning Monday .
  • Individuals are able to schedule appointments for assistance by phone, beginning are made by phone only.
  • Due to the nature of our funding and our collaboration with a city-wide network of agencies that cover certain zip code areas, services are zip code restricted and based on the service site location. 
Therefore, our service locations providing Family Services are provided below with a corresponding list of types of assistance available and the zip codes they serve. When you arrive at our office for your appoint, a caseworker will begin with an assessment of your needs.  Please follow the information below in order to locate a service site location that serves the zip code you reside in, and the steps to make an appointment with on of our caseworkers.

If you are seeking financial assistance for rent, mortgage or utility bills:
Please refer to the sites list above and check if your zip code falls into the service areas.
If it does, please follow these steps:
a) Assistance is provided by appointment only on "first come, first serve" basis.
b) Appointments are made by phone only on Mondays, starting at 8:30 a.m. The number of appointments is limited and is based on the availability of funds and time of year (if your zip code is served by our Regional Sites of Garland or Plano, please call the site for more information about how to schedule an appointment)
c) Unfortunately, we are not able to accept walk-ins.
d) For more information, please call the site that serves the zip code where you reside.
e) If you reside in a zip code that is not covered by any of our sites, please dial 2 1 1 (the Texas Commission on Health and Human Services hotline) and an operator will direct you to a site that serves your area. You are also more than welcome to call one of our sites for more information and referrals.

If you are in need of any other material assistance listed above:
Please refer to the sites list above and check if your zip code falls into the service areas.
If it does, please follow these steps:
a) Assistance is provided by appointment and walk in basis (depending on the service).
b) Please call the site that serves your zip code for more information on how you can qualify for assistance.
c) If you are in need of food assistance and don’t belong to any of the zip codes that we serve, we can help you on a "one time" basis. If you need ongoing services, we can refer you to an agency that covers your area. Please call any of our service sites listed above for more information.

If you are in need of any other type of financial and/or material assistance that IS NOT listed above: Please dial 2 1 1, the Texas Commission of Health of Human Services hotline. An operator will direct you to an agency that may be able to assist you. You can also call one of our sites and one of our staff members can provide information and referral.
